"Good customisation features and fast data entry in PS Financials win Carter's praise, as do facilities to apply business rules to pre-calculate many entries such as VAT rates/exemptions and inter-company transactions."
David Carter is a consultant editor for AccountingWEB, and the David Carter "Lab Tests" are a highly praised and referenced set of financial software reviews that are available to download from the AccountingWEB site.
Used frequently for short listing accounting and business software the David Carter reviews are tough tests of functionality and usability.
When testing the PS Financials software David picked up on a number of pertinent factors which makes PS Financials different from its competitors, including the positive benefits of working directly with customers and not through a channel which he says "makes a lot of sense for the customer, since you are talking direct to the people who wrote the software."
David undertook a through review of PS Financials, putting the software through his set 'tests' to demonstrate how it works in practice (the reviews are not a sales demo of 'the good bits' - they really are a laboratory test of the software in action). His findings were unanimous - PS Financials is VERY GOOD.
David appreciated the business benefits and multiple applications the UDI (User Defined Input Screens) have for PS Financials users. He also saw for himself the wide ranging application of the software for both accounting and non-accounting users.
System Design was rated VERY GOOD by David for Open Period Accounting, Transaction Types, and General Ledger Code.
Purchase Invoice Header and Detail were both rated VERY GOOD too.
Reviews and General Ledger update capabilities were rated VERY GOOD, and Error Correction was also VERY GOOD.
Nominal Journals were considered in addition to be VERY GOOD.
In fact ALL aspects of the test and review set out by David Carter for Accounting and Business software were rated as VERY GOOD for the PS Financials software!
In conclusion David Carter summarised his results from testing PS Financials and stated:
"In short, a top quality best-of-breed set of financials, with no obvious weaknesses. PS Financials is nicely honed to meet the special needs of accounts dept, but also very approachable for non-accounting users."
