UK Institute and Charity to use accounting and business software to provide employees with 'self-service' functionality.
The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), the leading professional body for librarians, information specialists and knowledge managers, has invested in the region of £65,000, for accounting and business management software from PS Financials to streamline its reporting and allow non-financial users to access budgetary information.
Rowena Wells, CILIP's Director of Finance, comments, "PS Financials is a very flexible, user-friendly system which is widely used in the charity sector. One of the most important functions of PS Financials is the 'self-service' ability which means we can provide our employees with the ability to view budgetary information in 'real-time'. The impact of this move towards a 'self-service' financials model is significant. The burden of processing budget requests will be removed from the finance department and placed on the individual employee, resulting in massive time savings."
PS Financials' 'self-service' facilities provide unlimited views of the accounts, allowing the user to access data in 'real-time'. The system is able to present data in various ways depending upon the needs and preferences of the individual user.
Wells continues, "When selecting our new finance system, we wanted a product where financial reports could be produced and manipulated easily. PS Financials met these requirements and therefore our users no longer have to be trained accountants. Our existing system was not flexible enough and was generating old fashioned basic reports,. PS Financials will eliminate a lot of duplication and will provide managers and budget holders with the information they need, when they need it."
Commenting on the working relationship with PS Financials, Wells concludes, "We were impressed with the knowledge and experience of PS Financials' consultants from the outset, and their project management throughout the implementation period has been excellent. Now that the system is live we have far more functionality than we ever had with our previous accounting software, and the system is scaleable which means it can support further growth."
CILIP, a registered UK charity, has up to 23,000 members working in all sectors of the information community such as public libraries, collections of rare books and intranet management. As a membership organisation CILIP operates in many diverse areas providing a wide variety of services to its members including training, qualifications, conferences and publishing. As such, the organisation required a scaleable accounting product to provide maximum transparency of information across the whole organisation |
